The Pluto Unit as part of the Voyage scale model of the Solar System on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Pluto is at the Smithsonian Castle, some 1,926 feet (587 meters) from the model Sun in front of the National Air and Space Museum. Pluto and its moon Charon are just visible in the glass. Relative to Voyage’s grapefruit-sized model Sun in Washington, DC, a model of the nearest star to the Sun, Proxima Centauri, would be the size of a Cherry on the California coast.

A replica of the Voyage scale model Solar System exhibition on the National Mall is available for permanent installation in communities world-wide.
Read about the impromptu memorial of cards and letters to Pluto that began appearing on the National Mall after Pluto lost planet status.
